Which retail, F&B and service units are currently available for rent at Berlin Airports?
At present there are no vacant units at Berlin-Schoenefeld and Berlin-Tegel airports.
The deadline for the pre-qualification process for the initial rental of retail, food & beverage and service units at the new Berlin Brandenburg Airport has expired and the tenants for the units at the new airport have already been selected.
Is there a waiting list for the units at the airport? How does the rental procedure work?
We do not have a waiting list in the conventional sense of the word. If and when we have vacant units to let in the future we will invite operators to submit an offer; these companies will be selected on the basis of the retail/sector mix at the airport. In a fully transparent tender process we will select the most suitable applicant on the basis of a specific set of predefined criteria, including the financial plan, quality of the concept and compliance with the overall airport retail concept.
Please feel free to send us a short application detailing your concept. If your application matches the overall concept for the airport, we may at a later point ask you to submit a complete, more detailed application.
What criteria do prospective tenants for the retail, food & beverage and service units have to fulfil? What references are required?
We aim to fulfil and surpass our customers’ and visitors’ expectations by offering an appealing and highly attractive choice of retail, food & beverage and service options. Prospective tenants must be in a position to fully cover the special conditions and requirements of an airport location when planning and implementing their concept. These include longer opening hours, a seven-day week and higher expenses/overheads for shop fittings and operations due to the special technical and operating specifications at the airport.
This means that we expect our tenants to comply with special requirements, both in the design of the unit and in day-to-day operations. Aspects that are particularly important include:
• economic, financial and technical performance
• Submission of references: prior experience in similar high-frequency locations, proof of qualification
• Staff: language skills, friendliness, commitment to service
How high is the rent for retail, food & beverage and service units at Berlin Airports?
Depending on the concept and location in the terminal, our tenants pay a rent that is based on their turnover (turnover rent) combined with a minimum monthly rent. There is no fixed monthly rate per square metre.
